“Virgin Media Dominates UK Broadband Speeds in 2025”

Recent data from SpeedGo, a new broadband speed-testing service, reveals disparities in performance among internet service providers (ISPs). Virgin Media leads the UK with an impressive average download speed of 256.5Mbps, enabling users to download a full HD movie in just over two minutes, significantly faster than the national average. Following Virgin Media, Vodafone secures the second position with average download speeds of 175Mbps, while BT (EE) ranks third. TalkTalk lags behind, reporting an average speed of approximately 95Mbps.

The ranking of average download speeds among major UK ISPs is as follows:
– Virgin Media: 256.5Mbps
– Vodafone: 175.1Mbps
– BT (EE): 122.5Mbps
– Sky Broadband: 113.6Mbps
– TalkTalk: 94.7Mbps

In addition to download speeds, SpeedGo also assessed upload speeds, crucial for users handling large file transfers or working remotely. Vodafone excelled in this aspect with an average upload speed of 83.6Mbps, outperforming Virgin Media, which secured the second spot with 47.2Mbps.

According to SpeedGo, Virgin Media delivered the fastest broadband internet in the UK in 2025, with an average download speed of 256.5Mbps, while Vodafone led in average upload speed at 83.6Mbps.
