Police in Mexico were shocked to find the dismembered bodies of three men in six plastic bags at a commercial complex in Acapulco Diamante, Guerrero. The discovery was made after authorities received tips about the suspicious bags behind a shopping center called La Isla. The incident is the latest in a series of similar cases in the region.
The victims’ remains, including their heads and limbs, were found by investigators at the scene. The bodies were transported to a local morgue in El Quemado, but their identities remain unknown. This gruesome find echoes a previous incident in April 2025 when federal authorities responded to a similar discovery in Acapulco.
According to reports, the National Guard, State Police, Navy, and forensic specialists from the State Attorney General’s office recovered the victim’s body parts from plastic bags. A threatening note, believed to be from a criminal group, was also discovered near the scene. In a separate incident, 11 bodies were found in Tecoanapa municipality following clashes between rival gangs.
Past decapitations have been linked to the “La Barredora” gang operating in Guerrero. A note signed by the group was found at a crime scene where six heads were found. The motive behind these violent acts remains unclear, although a warning note left at a different scene suggested involvement by La Barredora.
Guerrero has a high rate of homicides in Mexico, with a significant number of them connected to drug trafficking. Due to the ongoing violence, the foreign office advises against non-essential travel to the state. The situation has escalated to the point where Catholic bishops had to intervene in 2024 to broker a truce between rival cartels to mitigate the violence in the region.
